Important Announcement:
The ASPE-LA Chapter's Scholarship had been extended
for another two (2) months. This was done to provide engineering
offices and universities to send their nominees.
Included in this issue of the ASPE-LA Newsletter are the
revised criteria and application forms. Those that have
already submitted their application, need not re-submit.
To re-iterate, the following are the criteria and qualifications:
- One (1) scholar per Course Year will be selected by
the Board together with the Education and Scholarship
Committee Chairperson.
- The individual shall be a current Plumbing Designer,
a CAD person or a Junior Year Mechanical Engineering
Student at a Board approved program, interested
in pursuing a career as a Plumbing Engineer.
- The individual shall join ASPE-Los Angeles Chapter
and become an active member of the Society for a
minimum of two (2) years, by attending and participating
at monthly ASPE-LA Chapter meetings.
- If not at Junior Year Mechanical Engineering Student,
the individual shall be at least a High School graduate
or with GED equivalent.
- The individual shall be willing to finish the complete
course at UCLA and shall pass all the examinations
and graduate. Proof of passing grade and graduation
certificate will be required to be presented to ASPELA
at the end of each semester.
- Included in the scholarship are full tuition fees and
50% of the cost of reference books required for the
class. Time, travel and other expenditures shall be
borne by the student. ASPE-LA Chapter will pay the
tuition fees prior to the class. Failure to complete or
pass the course, will result in paying back ASPE-LA
for all the expenses incurred.
- Individual shall provide a Letters of Recommendation,
from his or her Supervisor to the ASPE-LA Board and
an essay of why he or she is interested in the Plumbing
Engineering or Design Profession.
The first Scholar will be selected prior to the start of the
2010 Curriculum. Selected scholar are encouraged to remain
member of ASPE-LA after graduation.
